Scottie Sanderlin, 87 of Odessa, TX passed away on November 14, 2014 at his home.
Visitation will be from 4:006:00 pm on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, November 18, 2014 qt Sunset Memorial Chapel with Reverend Clydell Chapman of Northside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Scottie was born in Fort Worth, TX to Winfield Scottie Sanderlin and Beutal Meadors Sanderlin on October 4, 1927. He married Mary Buchanan Grissom on December 31, 1984. Scottie sold furniture for 35 years in Odessa and retired from McMinns Furniture in 1994.
Scottie was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Post 430 of the American Legion for 35 years and served as Commander of Post 430 in 1994.
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and loved his church family.
Scottie was preceded in death by one brother, Bud and two sisters, Tootie and Evelyn, as well as his motherinlaw Ruby Buchanan and fatherinlaw Hershel Buchanan brotherinlaw, Nolen Buchanan and a beloved stepdaughter, Sherry Barckow.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sanderlin one son Scott Sanderlin of California, stepson Johnny Grissom of Odessa, granddaughter Lindsey and Lorrin Grissom, greatgrandson Austyn and greatgranddaughter Aria brothers Raymond of New Braunfells and Floyd of Fort Worth sisters Alice St. Claire of Fort Worth and Ella Maxie of Uvalde, and his beloved dogs, Sandy and Daisy.
