Winnie Kennedy

Winnie Kennedy, 80, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Odessa, Texas.

She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church for many years. Winnie was born in Borger, Texas on April 7, 1933 to Rassie and Eunice Langston.

Her first marriage was to Jimmie Ray Pontremoli and they had three sons Jimmie Ray Pontremoli Jr., Freddie Lynn Pontremoli and Tony Earnest Pontremoli. All raised in Odessa, Texas. Tony passed away with cancer at the age of 39.

Her second marriage was to Carl Wesley Kennedy, and he had two adopted sons Billy Roger Kennedy and Rickey Allen Kennedy.

Winnie graduated from Odessa High in 1951 and went on to Odessa College studying Nursing and later Real Estate to receive her degree. Later in life she opened a gift shop.

While in Arkansas she was the Director of the Senior Citizen Center. She loved her church and they had several cookouts and fish fries at their home. Winnie loved to sing in the choir, welcome visitors and members, visit the sick and take food to their homes. She made a lot of calls. Winnie also ran the kitchen for 12 years with other ladies helping. She did so much for her church because she loved doing it for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Pontremoli parents, Rassie and Eunice Langston and sister, Maxine Termin.

Winnie is survived by her husband, Carl Wesley Kennedy son, Jimmie and wife Carol Pontremoli of Murfreesboro, TN son, Freddie and wife Cecilia Pontremoli of Midland, TX grandchildren great grandchildren and one sister, Barbara Schaible of Big Lake, TX as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her friends of Tanglewood Baptist Church for all their support and kindness during this time.

A memorial service will be held at Tanglewood Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 with Rev. Lyndel Lee officiating.
