Winnie Whitmire

Winnie Corinne Bankston Whitmire, 80, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 28, 2008, in Midland, TX. She was born April 15, 1928, in Norphlet, Arkansas to parents, L.D and Gurtha Banston.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James C. Whitmire Jr; brother Gordon Bankston and sister Gloria Wilson Bankston.

She is survived by daughters; Vickie Cox Whitmire and Sherry Virdell Whitmire, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Winnie Whitmire our Nana had many passions in life. At the forefront of those passions were her Lord and Savior, her family and friends, whom she held very close to her heart, as well as her love and passion for her country.

Winnie attended two years at Harden Simmons University, was a member of the Heugenot Society, and a member of the Magna Carta Dames. She was a member of Kingston Ave Baptist Church for 30 years.

Winnie, Mother, Nana are the names of our loved one whos life was a testimony of Faith, Love, and Inspiration to her whole family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at 10:00 am, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with John Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
