Jimmy Jones

Jimmy Harold Jones, husband, father, grandfather and now our precious guardian angel, passed from this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

He was born February 8, 1935, in Dublin, Texas, to the late Robert and Polly Jones.  Jimmy attended high school in Cisco, Texas. He graduated from Cisco Junior College with a B.S. in Elementary Education and obtained his Master of Education at East Texas State University in 1960. He served in the U.S. Airforce and was medically discharged in 1955. He married Lydia Jones, the love of his life, on March 16, 1984, in Odessa, Texas.

Jimmy’s passions included spending time with his beautiful family, playing golf with his family and friends, watching the Dallas Cowboys and cherished his time with his three grandchildren. As a retired and beloved educator, he enjoyed hearing from his former students.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Lydia Jones; son, Greg Jones of Cisco, TX; daughters, Julie Figueroa, of Odessa, TX, JoAnn Fowler (Ivan) of Jacksonville, FL; and his three grandchildren, Jacquilyn Franco, Noah Franco and Zachary Campos.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM.

The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
